This is your Captain speaking...
Aloha All,
I know it's been a loooong time.... to the point where it doesn't feel like it's 1937 anymore. But, in the Crimson Skies - it's ALWAYS 1937! Anyway, the squadron has been busy playing with multitudes of other games and flight simulators; but just like your first love, you're always looking back at once was. I'm very thankful to say that I've gotten back into the cockpit, but in quite a different way. With HEROCLIX!
Crimson Skies actually started out as a miniatures game from FASA, and we were lucky enough that Microsoft had created the PC version of the game; which in turn introduced me to the alternate universe/dog-fighting/piracy era of 1937. Thankfully, Crimson Skies was picked up temporarily by WizKids in 2003, who are the creators of the table-top game "Heroclix".
Heroclix is best known for the "Super Hero" miniatures game with great comic book heroes such as Spider-man, Superman and Batman; just to name a few. However, the "rules" for Crimson Skies Heroclix are entirely different than the normal Heroclix games with Super Heroes.
Wizkids is incredibly smart in trying to bring all kinds of different genres and movies, etc. to their table-top game. They've created many different sculps (sculptures) for their brand of table-top game. Such as ALIENS vs. PREDATOR.
Recognizing that Heroclix would make an excellent alternative to the FASA game (by using their brand of table-top mechanics and rules), Wizkids created Crimson Skies Heroclix. With the same alternate history, pirate gangs/squadrons and characters as the original (such as Nathan Zachary of The Fortune Hunters, Ghengis Khan of the Red Skull Legion to name a couple), Crimson Skies Heroclix was sure to tap into the heart-strings of those who missed flying in the Crimson Skies of 1937.
Stay tuned... more to come soon. S`
